Western Union has released a mobile application that will allow customers in the U.S. to send a Western Union money transfer directly from your mobile phone. The free, feature-rich app for iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch is available for download from the App Store. Western Union is also planning to release a similar app for BlackBerry and Android in the near future.

Immediately after downloading the app allows customers to send Western Union money transfers directly from their mobile phone using a credit or debit card. Typically, the funds are available in a matter of minutes at more than 400,000 customer service points in 200 countries and territories around the world, including the United States. The transfer is paid in cash, it is possible to receive funds in the national currency of the country of destination, subject to the availability of this service. “The Western Union study showed that our customers would like to conveniently send money transfers from a mobile phone,” said David Yates, Executive Vice President of Western Union for business development and innovation. – This mobile app provides customers with an easy and convenient way to send money, regardless of location and time of day.”
Customers who prefer to send cash transfers can start a transaction using a mobile application (similar to a pre-printed boarding pass) and then quickly send the money to the Western Union service point in the United States that provides the service. You can also use the app to find the nearest Western Union service point.
Customers can also send money from your phone to a mobile “wallet” to subscribers of mobile operators in the Philippines, Kenya and some other countries.
